2023 Kuskokwim 300 Race Day

Good Morning Race Fans!

The 2023 Kuskokwim 300 kicked off it’s 43rd race weekend last night with the Musher Meeting and Drawing.

Race Grandpa Myron Angstman went over the race in front of a group of 21 mushers, a mix of old and new faces.

Trail conditions are going to be the concern on this race because, as luck would have it, a big weather change is headed for the area that will bring warm temperatures and the possibility of rain this weekend. It never fails– Plan a Kuskokwim 300 and just wait for the weather! In some ways, though, it is much better than last weekend with the brutal winds and deep cold temperatures that made for some communities struggling to stay warm. Freezeups were the norm throughout the Delta.

Pete chose to leave in second position. He will pair with Jessica Klejka to leave the starting line as the first pair on the trail to Aniak and back.

Here are the photos from the evening. The race starts at 6:30 and hopefully will be available at the K300 Facebook page.

Go Team Kaiser!!
