Well its finally here! The Start of Iditarod 2012. For Team Kaiser it is the Iditarod III – or Pete’s third quest to lead the teams into Nome. Listening to his interview gives us insight as to how wise Pete really can be. This year the goal is for a top 5 finish. Each year has been productive and this year the team looks as good as ever. They have close to 3000 miles in training and races with a victory in the Bogus Creek 150 in January and just recently a win in the Paul Johnson Memorial 450. There have been a few challenging times since last Iditarod, but with the win last year in the Kobuk 440, the Team has proven pretty successful.
Anything can happen in a race, though, and the real goal of any Iditarod Musher is to finish the race with a healthy, happy team.
So Good Luck Pete and Team Kaiser! We will be with you each step of the way!
Mike Williams Sr. couldn’t make the race due to health reasons, and Mike Jr. will take the reins and head for Nome. Here at Team Kaiser all local teams are part of the racing family, but Mike Jr. holds a special place and we root for him like we root for Pete. Good Luck Mike Jr.
At last night’s 2012 Iditarod Musher’s banquet, Pete drew number 28. This will put the team in the middle of the pack which will be great! You never want to lead the pack and break trail as we saw on the Paul Johnson Memorial Race. The musher’s banquet is a time for the mushers to get together and meet sponsors and race fans. We got some great photos for you from Bethany Hoffman. Thanks Bethany! (For those that don’t know, she’s Pete’s squeeze 🙂 )
Its that time of year! Iditarod 2012 is upon us!
I’m looking for volunteers this year up front. I need folks to commit to be eyes and ears on the trail.
So here is what I need:
If you live along the trail or know someone who does, Let me know!! eMail me at firstname.lastname@example.org or give me a ring at 907-545-1999.
Use your contacts and find me some folks so we can see what is happening.
Thanks for Watching and Supporting Team Kaiser!
