A Picture’s Worth a Thousand Words- What a Beautiful Day for a Dog Race

IMG_9606

Though the Ceremonial Start of the Iditarod is realatively minor in the scope of the Last Great Race, it is a crowd and fan favorite and brings a time to show off Sponsors, Teams, and Volunteers. Though the season has been marred with rain and unseasonably warm conditions, Mother Nature blessed us with a cool morning that, for all intents and purposes, couldn’t have been better. The sun was blazing away and just a bit of fog made the morning spectacular.

The music of the dogs ready to go combined with a cheering crowd sent off all the mushers into a real nice trail up into the Campbell Creek area.

Here are the photos from the Morning Start. There are many and many helped to make it possible. I combined them all to make it maybe a bit easier to see. Elizabeth Aarons, Tillie Kaiser, Casey McDonald and Alfred Wallace, all contributed to the photos. Thanks!!
