It’s Official- Pete Kaiser is the new King!
Congratulations to Pete and the Team for their 10th record setting Win! Also a record is 5 straight wins!
We all gathered to see history being made this morning at the Finish Line in Bethel. It was chilly and wouldn’t you know it, the Kusko 300 had some weather in store for us, just to keep us honest! Freezing rain began falling to the extent a slight rainbow could be seen over Bethel in the mid morning day.
Pete and the Team crossed the line at 10:40:00 with 10 dogs with an elapsed time of 38:18:00.
A boisterous crowd was on hand to welcome Pete and the Team that honestly looked like they could do another run! Tails wagging with Mookie and Delmer in Lead- it was a sight to behold.
Coming in second was Riley Dyche who remarked that Pete passed him in almost the identical place in the trail from last year.
Third place belonged to Mike William Jr. who, having led much of the race, had a little Team trouble out of Kalskag that dropped him to fifth position and he was able to make his way back to third.
In fourth place, and the first Lady musher to be in the top five since 2002 when Dee Dee Jonrowe did it was local veterinarian and hometown favorite, Jessica Klejka.
Topping out the top five was Ryan Redington.
It was a really nice morning, save for the freezing rain. Thank you to all of our supporters, fans, sponsors, and of course Pete’s family who make this all possible.
Go Team Kaiser!
