2023 Kuskokwim 300 is Underway.

Good Evening Race Fans!

What a beautiful night for a Kuskokwim 300 Start!

After the brutal cold of last week, the warm was a welcome break. Unfortunately it looks like it is going to be TOO warm for Teams in the next couple of days, but tonight was almost celebratory! After Covid and all of the things going against gathering, tonight was a celebration of gathering. There were as many people as I’ve seen for many years! It was so great to see everyone out and everyone seemed just happy.

21 Teams and hundreds of dogs! What a night.

Pete and the Team left the chute first followed by Jessica Klejka. Although Teams draw bib numbers of even and odd numbers, when they get to the chute either Team can go or they can go together. It is common for one Team to leave and then the other. Tonight Jessica waited as Team Kaiser 2023 left the Starting line on the way to Aniak and back.

At this hour Teams are making their way towards Tuluksak and on to Kalskag. This year’s race will have Teams head through the Whitefish Lake loop towards Aniak and then back to Kalskag on the river. It should be a real fun time watching the tracker this year as there are some really competitive Teams in the race.

Here are tonights Starting Line photos. Go Team Kaiser!
