Pete gets the limelight, but 16 tails and 64 paws take him down the trail. Team Kaiser 2015 is really a happy group of dogs. Pete says they are young, but enthusiastic and are really fun to be around.
I’ve been around Pete and his Teams for going on my 6th year now and I can’t remember a more tuned in group as a Team. I’m including Pete in that statement. They seem to move as a group. When Pete is moving, 32 eyes are keyed into his every move. When we got setup to travel to Fairbanks, it was just a boisterous group raring to go as soon as he opened the trailer door. Barking and Howling– Happy and not wanting to be left out.
Talking with Jenn Peeks, Team Kaiser’s handler extraordinaire, she thinks it has much to do with how they trained this year. In a couple of years past, Pete had help from Jenn or last year with Peter Reuter. This year, it was just him. Sequestered away in Nenana, just the Team and Pete, most likely had much to do with this finely tuned machine.
