Welcome to the 2015 Race Season!!

2015Welcome

It’s hard to believe that Race Season is here! Pete and the Team have been training hard to meet the challenge of the 2015 Sled Dog Racing season. Welcome aboard as we follow Team Kaiser across the wilds of Alaska!

The weather hasn’t cooperated in Southwest Alaska, so Pete and the Team have been houseguests of Aaron Burmeister in Nenana for most of the winter. Aaron has been so gracious and Team Kaiser would like to express our appreciation for his hospitality. The Interior of Alaska has had fair training as Bethel has been raining and very mild.

Pete and the Team arrived into Bethel on Monday evening and are preparing for the 2015 Kuskokwim 300 that will start on Friday. Kuskokwim 300 Race week is always very busy and this year proves to be a pretty interesting race. There have been a whole slew of changes to the race, both intentional and weather related, that will surely add to the drama of the race.

The first big change is that the K300 is now a 12 dog race. This will add a bit of strategy change to future races for sure. Over 30 teams signed up for the race that has the largest prize ever and no entry fee.

The warm weather has brought a tough trail for the mushers that caused the K300 race committee to move the race to the River for its run to Aniak and back. Unlike the normal trail that travels overland and makes a loop. This year’s trail will follow the Kuskokwim river for its full route. The trail has been worked on by several groups and hopefully an expected cooling trend will make for a fast race.

Stay tuned as we begin our season and get ramped up for Team Kaiser Race coverage.

Welcome!
