Forty Degrees and Time for a Break

Pete and the Team arrived into Rainy Pass at 12:50 right smack in the heat of the day. Temperatures have warmed throughout the morning to almost 40 degrees.
40 might be good for spring, but its not so great for the trail and the Teams. A hard packed trail that was fast in the cold becomes a soft mashed potato like surface.
It will definitely slow teams including Team Kaiser. What Pete has going for him is a shorter run up from Finger Lake where they took a break, so the added rest here will be good for the team.
Everyone, though, has got Martin Buser on the brain and his very long run, basically non-stop, from Willow to Rohn. Was it a gamble that will pay out? The mind games begin on the Iditarod trail
