Midnite Update – Little Buser Breaks

You can say what you want about technology, but in the old days, mushing was not really a spectator sport. Reporters were posted along the trail to send stories back to the public by phone and fax. Now, with the GPS tracker, we can all watch our favorite musher compete with the pack throughout the race.

Bogus GPS has Lewis Pavilla into the Bogus Checkpoint just a few minutes ago (11:50). This puts him just a few minutes ahead of Jen’s time last year. Lewis will be able to leave the checkpoint for the return to the Finish Line just before 4am. This puts the finish similar to last year (10-10:30am)

In the K300, 2012 Champion Rohn Buser did not stop in Tuluksak as expected and is on the trail to Kalskag. He has been leading the pack for a bit here, but there are many miles ahead.

Buser’s Break seems to be the norm as many teams are passing through Tuluksak. Most of the teams are stretched out in a two mile line following Rohn Buser.

Tomorrow morning make sure to stop here and check the GPS with your morning coffee. I am sure excitement and surprises await.

See ya in the morning – We have more from the start and as always commentary and more to keep the excitement going!
