Jeff King, the 4x Iditarod champ, cruised into White Mountain at 7:02 am. Those ardent fans with the Insider Tracker followed King through the night from Koyuk to Elim, watched him take a 1.5 hour break and then portage to Golovin bay, hiccup a little in golovin but quickly getting his dogs back on...
Kristen Egbert Hansellscary! "Jeff described the trail through the night for the press entourage. The first ten miles out of Koyuk was very rough with fallen trees, rocks, bare brush, and hard ice—“I would have pushed the rescue button” but reported that the trail then improved dramatically. Aliy and team followed closely behind."1 · 1 hour ago
Jane Luoma King-ShirerFor many years I've watched the Iditarod. As an Insider the last few years I have been made aware of so much more. I'm at a place in my life where I could volunteer at next years race. How do I even begin? Can someone advise me?1 · 2 days ago
Darlene MillerTo Jane about volunteering - I was fortunate enough to volunteer for a couple of years. It is an awesome experience, whether you are in Anchorage, Nome or on the trail. Go to Iditarod.com and click on volunteer for information. About October of each year, you will need to submit an online application. Someone will contact you after that. Go for it. I missed this year but plan to be back in 2015.1 · 2 days ago
